Sample Evaluation

To help you better understand the interaction between the tutors and the professors, the following is an example of an electronic tutor evaluation that would be sent to a professor after a one-on-one session.

After an evaluation is sent, the professor is then able to respond to the Writing Center report; this interaction allows tutors to customize future sessions with a given student, refine their pedagogy in general, or quickly respond to specific remarks and/or questions from faculty.

Paragraph Structure
Essay Structure
Grammar / Syntax

Tutor Comments:
Jessica and I worked on her paper about “Mending Wall.” She had excellent ideas, but struggled to express them clearly at times. She expressed her ideas better verbally and so we talked through ideas and then put them down into sentences. We also addressed transitions and paragraphing. She was concerned about her grammar, but overall, she only had minor mistakes. She was extremely responsive and engaged in the session.

You know Jessica is Norwegian, don’t you. Actually, she’s writing better all the time. This was her very first paper. She’s done much better on later ones. There must be something about the revision process itself that’s problematic for her on this paper. She’s great, isn’t she?
